“Chance Bennett, a Peculiar Name?”

Normally, I stick to underground artists with very little fame, but this week, I focus on an artist who is not yet mainstream, but is largely known. From his mixtape 10 Day, to Acid Rain, to even his new work with The Social Experiment, he never fails to deliver. You might know him as Chance the Rapper or Chano. And he looks a little something like(below)

His music is different than other rappers; he may rap about drugs(I mean, the mixtape heavily mentions drugs), but Chano is able to take an ordinary subject, or part of your life, and focus on the inner beauty. For example, Chance's new song "Sunday Candy" is a song about how you visit your grandma and what it really means. While she gives you Sunday candy, she is, in the end, your Sunday candy. His lyrics mean much more than what is presented. He spits the truth, yes, but he inspires and can tell one heck of a story.

As far as success as goes, Acid Rap was considered successful. The mixtape(which means you can download it free here) is considered double platinum on DatPiff, which means it has been downloaded 500,000 times or more. The Rolling Stones magazine listed Acid Rap as the top 26 album of 2013. He has been featured by several large artists, like Childish Gambino. Most of his music, new or old, has reached millions of views on SoundCloud.

My favorite songs by Chano are "No Better Blues," "Sunday Candy,""Smoke Again," "Chain Smoker," "I Am Very Very Lonely," and "Favorite Song."

If you haven't heard of Chance, give him a listen. I'd recommend it for any rap fan that likes chill music. If you're looking for Tech N9ne like, or more wild and vicious, Chano isn't your kind of guy, but if you like to chill, relax, and just jam to one of the best modern rappers, Chance is your man.
